What is the US Student Association?

The US Student Association (USSA) is a national, student-led organization dedicated to empowering students and advocating for their rights. Founded on principles of equity, access, and justice, USSA represents the voices of students across the country and works to address issues such as affordability, education reform, and social justice.

What is a Legislative Conference?

A legislative conference (LegCon) is a gathering of student leaders from college campuses around the country who want to develop new advocacy skills, learn how to lobby effectively, and who have a collective interest in building a long lasting national student movement. Attendees will study how to build power to move lawmakers and make their voices heard. 

What Happens at a Legislative Conference?

Participants attend workshops, hear from guest speakers, and participate in discussions about current legislation and student-related issues. The conference will include a whole day of meeting directly with elected officials. 

Why Should I Attend a Legislative Conference?

By attending, you’ll gain valuable skills in advocacy, network with like-minded student leaders, and play a direct role protecting and advancing issues that matter to students around the country. It’s a chance to amplify student voices and make meaningful connections with decision-makers.

Is the Conference Only for Students Interested in Politics?

Not at all! While the focus is on legislative advocacy, the conference is open to student leaders from all backgrounds who want to learn how to make a difference in Washington DC and build with leaders from other states 

When does registration close?

Registration doesn’t close, you can register the day of the conference! But meals and space are first come, first serve. If you register after February 28, we can’t guarantee a meal and swag. 

Where is the Conference?

The conference is in Washington DC at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, 400 New Jersey Ave NW Washington DC 20002. USSA has a hotel block with codes for discounts for all attendees, you can get that code by contacting [email protected] and booking your rooms at hyattregencywashington.com. If you don’t stay at the hotel and choose a different hotel your delegation is responsible for all travel to and from the conference.  

When is the Conference?

The conference begins on the evening of March 21, 2025 and concludes on March 24, 2025.

How Much is the Conference?

There is no registration fee for the conference, student delegations are financially responsible for all travel expenses and hotel. Meals will be provided by the conference. 

What airport should I travel into?

The most convenient airport to fly into is Washington Reagan National airport (DCA). You can get to the hotel quickly via car or metro subway which takes you to union station and the hotel is a five- minute walk.
